Projekt Familienstรคrkung von SOS Kinderdorf fรผr starke Familien in Afrika

Strengthening families in Africa

A strong family is the most important foundation for a childโ€™s healthy development. The SOS Family Strengthening Programme aims to prevent families in deprived areas from breaking down due to poverty. The aim of SOS Family Strengthening is to enable parents and single parents to become self-reliant and care for their children independently.

Many families in Africa face major challenges. Numerous countries continue to be plagued by war, disease and famine. One in fourteen children in sub-Saharan Africa does not even reach the age of five, and many children grow up without parents.

The SOS Family Strengthening Programme provides targeted support to particularly vulnerable families and their children living in the vicinity of an SOS Childrenโ€™s Village. Our staff assist them with material needs, provide access to medical care and help with educational matters.

Locating missing persons and animals

Under the direction of Alexandra Grunow and Rovena Lankau, the search dog centre trains dogs that can track people by their scent. In addition to training K-9 TrailTrainers, they have been helping out the police and state criminal investigation offices throughout Germany for years on a voluntary basis in the areas of rescue and forensics in real missions to track down missing persons or pets. โ€œOur dogs track down lost people before they are lost foreverโ€ is how Alexandra Grunow describes her work. Happy Dog supports the search dog centre with food and material donations, joint campaigns and events.

Tierรคrzte ohne Grenzen e.V. (Vets without Borders)

The work of Tierรคrzte ohne Grenzen e.V. [Vets Without Borders] benefits animal health, people and the environment in its six project countries in East Africa. The people there are characterised by a rich history and often extensive knowledge that has been passed down through generations. The association wants to preserve this valuable heritage and expand it through veterinary and human medical knowledge. The knowledge, experience and life strategies of the people involved in the projects are at the heart of the association's work - it supports them in leading a healthy and self-determined life in harmony with their animals in a healthy environment. Happy Dog has been supporting the vaccination campaign of Vets Without Borders in Africa since 2020 and is thus positioning itself in the fight against rabies. Become a sponsoring member now and support the work of Vets Without Borders with the aim of eliminating human rabies cases.

Food donations for dogs in need

We have been supporting the charitable work of feed a dog since 2022 and are proud that together we have already been able to fill over 260,964 bowls. Animal welfare is very important to us as a pet food manufacturer, which is why we enthusiastically support the feed a dog concept: Doing good has never been so easy. With the help of the feed a dog app, donating takes just one click. Just 1.50 euros is enough to fill a dog's bowl. What you need to do: Install the free feed a dog app on your mobile phone and you're ready to donate. You decide who you want to support. Happy Dog will then double your donation, no matter how much it is!

  • To reduce the number of dogs given away due to additions to the family.
  • To support families in leading a harmonious daily life with baby and dog.

What makes โ€˜Dogs & Storksโ€™ and the follow-up programme โ€˜Dogs & Babiesโ€™ unique?

Official Partner of the VDH

The Verband fรผr das Deutsche Hundewesen [German Kennel Club] (abbreviated as: VDH) is the leading interest group for all dog owners in Germany - the first address for everything to do with life with dogs, dog sport and dog breeding. At Happy Dog we work closely with the VDH and regularly promote the associationโ€™s campaigns and events with our commitment. Every year, at the beginning of June is national Dog Day. It is celebrated with hundreds of events organised by dog clubs, veterinary institutions and many other organisations. As an official partner of the VDH, Happy Dog supports the organisers in their campaigns every year with a generous number of food samples to distribute to all participants.

For the humane keeping of animals

In order to keep zoo animals in a way that is as humane possible, a variety of measures are necessary: optimally designed enclosures, individual engagement with the individual animal species and species-appropriate feeding of the animals are just a few examples that modern zoos have to take into account today. In order to be able to finance such measures, the zoo requires financial resources from sponsors like Happy Dog. In addition, our sponsorship contribution enables nursery and school classes in particular to get to know the animal world, not only in theory, but also in practice.
